Hays Human Resources - July 2010
Hotspots
The first quarter of 2010 has been much busier especially at the middle management level. Companies are however still being cautious about hiring new strategic positions at the senior level and taking longer to make hiring decisions.
Business partnering has been an area of high demand as organisations move towards shared service models on the operational side, leaving strategic HR to focus on the business.
There are an increasing number of Regional HR Manager opportunities as large multinational companies establish Regional HR functions in Singapore. Candidates with international experience particularly from Asia Pacific and South East Asia are very much in demand.
The coming quarter
Recruitment within financial services will increase dramatically as the market gains more confidence and the banking sector stabilises. There is also an increase in temporary requirements within HR as companies are growing rapidly within the South East Asia region.
Executive recruitment
Companies are looking at strategic HR at the senior level to work closely with the business for future growth and stability; HR is becoming extremely fundamental to the success of businesses.
Employer trends
There is more competition for candidates within the market and employers remain extremely selective. Even urgent roles will take longer to fill as employers look for the right fit and will wait for candidates as they come onto the market.
Candidate trends
Career stability has become important for employees and true business partnering or coaching and advising is now a large part of life as an HR professional.
