HAYS GETS MOBILE IN SINGAPORE
The mobile phone, or PDA, is growing to become the primary way people interface with the internet in Singapore. Rapid technological development and upgrades from 2G to 3G phones is changing the way we all use the internet – and how job seekers look for work.
“The use of technology here in Singapore is pervasive and part of all our daily lives. Not only are there are more mobile internet users in the Asia Pacific region than anywhere else in the world, Singapore has one of the highest percentage of mobile handset users,” explains Chris Mead, General Manager of Hays in Singapore.
“Whilst candidates can search for vacancies at their own leisure, wherever they are with a smart phone, they can also opt for an alert service. This ensures they are kept up to date with the most current job vacancies. It is also an important benefit for employers seeking to fill a position urgently.
“The penetration of smart phones means people will rely much more on their online community to get a broader source of information, both work and leisure based. Hays is utilising this technology to make the job search much more efficient and less time consuming as it saves candidates logging on unless there is a job that matches their criteria.
“We also have plans to utilise this technology for research purposes in the near future,” concludes Mead.
